  4. TBSCAN does not mean TurBo-SCAN as some users assume, but stands for
  5. Thunderbyte Scan. TBSCAN is supplied with the Thunderbyte disk.

  7. TBSCAN needs a signature file TBSCAN.DAT or VIRUSSIG.DAT. Because these
  8. files are updated a lot, they are not supplied with this package. Both
  9. of these files are availabel at Thunderbyte support BBS +31-85-212395 or
  10. at many other BBSs.

  12. Some users think that scanning for all viruses in all files is the best
  13. scanning method (by using "TBSCAN *.* -a +n"). This is not true: It only
  14. increases the possibility of false alarms. It is not usefull to scan for
  15. bootsector viruses in .COM files or to scan for COM viruses in .EXE
  16. files. Use this option only when you already encountered a virus and
  17. want to make sure that you really destroyed all infected files.

  19. If you use another virusscanner after running TBSCAN, it is possible
  20. that that other scanner finds signatures of viruses in memory. This does
  21. not mean that you have a virus, but is caused by the fact that the other
  22. virusscanner detects the signatures left in memory by TBSCAN. The same
  23. applies to TBSCAN, it will also find signatures left in memory by other
  24. virusscanners. Future versions of TBSCAN will destroy their data before
  25. they quit. Hopefully other scanners will be adapted also!

  27. Due to safety routines in the TbScan program, it can not be compressed
  28. with programs like PkLite, LzExe, or Diet. This is not very painfull
  29. after all because the file isn't that big!
